Home is a haven
A new business has started up in the Ottawa area! The house rearranging/ redesigning concept is catching on around the country. You might have also heard it being referred to as “house fluffing”, or “house staging” in the real estate world. Whatever you choose to call it, a whole different look can be achieved by switching pieces from one room to another, rehanging artwork or using different accessories. This is what Nancy O’Brien has begun with her home-based business called Fresh Interiors. The concepts that Nancy brings to Fresh Interiors are simplicity and serenity.
“Home is a haven from the hectic, external world
where one must feel comfortable and at peace.”
The major differences between hiring a home rearranger versus an interior designer are cost, and the fact that interior designers’ goal is change the look of your home entirely by buying all new furniture, accessories, window coverings and paint colours, or even knocking down walls to redesign the living space. Home rearrangers, on the other hand, use pieces that home owners already own, so the cost is significantly reduced (the current rate of $250 per day is potentially thousands of dollars less than hiring an interior designer). The most popular TV shows where home rearrangers (who are often, by trade, Interior Designers) enter a home are Trading Spaces, Design on a Dime, and Open Homes.
Think about it for a moment. Most people have bought furniture and accessories that generally appeal to them- otherwise, they wouldn’t have bought them. The problem? Many people simply don’t have the time or the knack to place the pieces in their home so that they reflect the home owners’ lifestyle, and project a comfortable and contemporary, efficient and cozy home. Or maybe you’re just starting out with very few pieces and you need some assistance with paint colours and accessories.... Fresh Interiors would be pleased to help you choose these pieces which will make your home look and feel brand new.
Selling your home?
It is amazing how many potential home buyers are immediately turned off by a poorly arranged, cramped and disorganized living space. The truth is, the marketability of a home can be significantly increased with only minor adjustments made to a living space. The problem with that is, many people don’t have the time or the ability to change an aesthetically unpleasing area into an attractive, appealing living space for their potential home buyers. That’s why we’re here.....
Although Nancy generally prefers crisp, symmetrical, contemporary lines and neutral colours that provide a sense of ease for her own living space, she has a ‘knack’ for working with bolder styles as well.
Fresh Interiors will rearrange, accessorize, declutter and provide suggestions for refurnishing and painting to suit clients’ ever changing needs - in this case, selling a home for top dollars!
